Arkansas Apiary Law

Arkansas apiaries are managed by the Arkansas State Plant Board.

As many of you know, some folks tried to change this law in 2008 by proposing House Bill 1873, but it was removed from session in hopes that more Arkansas beekeepers would give their opinion so that the laws would represent the majority.  The NWA Beekeepers had a special meeting at which 11 interested members came up with the following proposed changes to HB1873.  However, at a recent meeting with the Plant Board and the Western Arkansas/Eastern Oklahoma Beekeepers' Association in Fort Smith, an amendment to HB1873 was shown and now everyone must rethink it all.

Please get familiar with the above links (the current law, HB1873, NWABA response to HB1873, and amendment to HB1873).

The current status is that his bill has been withdrawn.
